Today, we’re sharing one of our favorite healthy, homemade dog-treat recipes: Organic Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Biscuits. These wholesome, fiber-packed treats are perfect for active medium to large breeds like Labradors, and they’re made with ingredients you can feel good about.
Grab your apron (and your best taste tester) — let’s get baking some pumpkin and peanut butter treats!
🥣 Ingredients
- 2½ cups organic whole wheat flour (or organic oat flour for sensitive tummies)
- 1 cup organic pumpkin purée (be sure it’s pure pumpkin, not pie filling)
- ½ cup organic unsalted peanut butter (double-check that it’s xylitol-free)
- 1 organic large egg
- A splash of water, as needed
🔥 Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Mix dry ingredients: Add the flour to a large bowl.
- Blend wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, stir pumpkin, peanut butter, and egg for the biscuits until smooth and creamy.
- Combine: Slowly mix the wet and dry ingredients for the pumpkin and peanut butter dough. Add a little water if the dough feels dry.
- Roll and cut: Roll out dough to about ¼-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters — or a mason jar rim if you’re going rustic!
- Bake: Place treats on your baking sheet and bake for 20–30 minutes, until firm and lightly golden.
- Cool completely: Let the pumpkin treats cool before serving to your four-legged friends.
🏡 Homestead Tip:
No cookie molds or cutters? No problem.
Use a mason jar ring to cut perfect circles in a pinch!
🐕🦺 Wellness Tip:
Pumpkin is rich in fiber, which helps support healthy digestion — a bonus for active, hard-working Labradors.
📦 Storage
- Store treats in an airtight container for up to 5–7 days.
- Freeze pumpkin and peanut butter biscuits for up to 2 months — perfect for stocking up!
